Nothing Happens Until You Actually Start
I’ve spent 25 years making podcasts, interviewing hundreds of people, and building systems that actually work. Now I help photographers and content creators start their own shows without getting lost in gear reviews and theory that doesn’t matter.
Why Learn With Me?
Most Podcasting Education Focuses on the Wrong Things
Here’s what I’ve learned after 25 years: the gear matters less than you think, and the conversation craft matters more than anyone talks about.
I've Been Down the Road You're Traveling
I started podcasting in 1999, long before it was called podcasting. I’ve recorded on everything from terrible microphones to broadcast-quality setups, and I can tell you that what makes a show worth listening to has almost nothing to do with your equipment list.
My Approach
In addition to producing Generator, I also run a full-time portrait studio, Stonetree Creative, so I understand what it’s like to build a podcast as a one-person operation while running an actual business. This means the systems I teach you are built for people who need efficiency, not people with production teams.
When you work with me, you’ll learn how to conduct interviews that feel like conversations, how to set up your recording space without spending thousands of dollars, and how to build a sustainable workflow that doesn’t eat your entire week. You’ll also learn the parts nobody talks about: how to make guests feel safe, how to use silence effectively, and how to ask questions that get past the surface-level answers everyone gives.
What I Teach
Podcast Education & Consulting Services
PODCASTING FOUNDATIONS
Starting a podcast means making a thousand small decisions, and most of them don’t matter as much as you think. I’ll help you figure out what actually matters: your format, your interview approach, and your workflow. We’ll cover episode planning, recording basics, guest preparation, and how to build a system you can sustain without burning out. This is for photographers and creatives who want to start a show but don’t want to spend months researching microphones and hosting platforms.
Pricing: $150/hour
INTERVIEW CRAFT & CONVERSATION MASTERY
Most podcasting courses teach you how to edit audio. I teach you how to ask better questions, listen actively, and create space for people to say things they’ve never said before. This covers question design, pre-interview prep, how to guide without controlling, and how to handle silence, tangents, and moments where guests get uncomfortable. If you want your show to feel different from every other podcast in your space, this is where we start.
Pricing: $150/hour
LIVE STREAMING SETUP & STRATEGY
I’ve been live streaming interviews for years using Ecamm Live, and I’ve built a setup that works for both video podcasts and client presentations. I’ll show you how to set up your streaming rig, manage multiple cameras and audio sources, handle technical issues in real time, and create a professional broadcast without a production crew. This is practical, hands-on work with the tools I actually use every week.
Pricing: $200/hour $800/half day $1500/full day
GEAR SETUP & AUDIO PROCESSING
You can spend $10,000 on podcast gear or you can spend $500 and sound just as good if you know what you’re doing. I’ll help you choose microphones, interfaces, cameras, and lighting that fit your budget and your space. We’ll also cover audio processing in Final Cut Pro using Boris FX CrumplePop, which is what I use to clean up every episode of Generator. This session is about making smart choices, not expensive ones.
Pricing: $200/hour $800/half day
PODCAST WORKFLOW & SYSTEMS
You can’t sustain a podcast if every episode takes 20 hours to produce. I’ll show you the exact workflow I use to record, edit, transcribe, and publish episodes of Generator, including how I integrate AI tools like Mac Whisper and Claude to speed up everything from transcription to show notes without losing the human touch. This is for people who want a podcast that fits into their existing business, not one that takes it over.
Pricing: $150/hour
PODCAST CONSULTING & STRATEGY
Already have a show but something’s not working? I’ll listen to your episodes, review your workflow, and help you figure out what needs to change. This covers audience development, format adjustments, marketing strategy, and how to use your podcast as a tool for your business instead of just another thing you have to do. This is a conversation about what you’re building and why it matters.
Pricing: $250/hour
THE BOOK
Speak Less, Get More: A Field Guide to Hosting Conversations That Connect
I Made 20+ Years of Mistakes So You Don't
I wrote a book about the part of podcasting nobody teaches: how to conduct interviews that feel like real conversations instead of performances. “Speak Less, Get More” comes out in early 2026, and it’s built from 25 years of interviewing experience and hundreds of hours of conversations with working creatives. It covers question design, listening skills, how to create safety for your guests, and how to guide conversations without controlling them. If you want to learn how I approach interviews on Generator, this is the book. If you want hands-on help building those skills, book a session.
